The Velazquez family exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit instilled by the owner’s father, who from a young age witnessed his father’s journey of building a business based on hard work while still being able to care for his numerous family members.

In the mid-’80s, the Velazquez family immigrated to the United States in search of a new life with better opportunities. Since then, for more than 30 years, Aurora is the city they have called home.

After embarking on other business ventures, the opportunity to open a new business was presented to the Velazquez family where they would be able to exalt the name of the city that has given them so much. Honoring the owner’s late mother’s name and the city they love, Taqueria Aurora was founded in 2018.

Opening a restaurant was an accomplishment that had been a lifelong goal of the family stemming back to the 1980s. The Velazquez hope you enjoy the cuisine channeled from their hometown located in the region of “Los Altos” of the State of Jalisco” in Mexico. They strive to continue the family legacy of entrepreneurship while maintaining their family values based on hard work. “Thanks to everyone that has supported us since our opening. With much hard work, the Velazquez Family has been able to continue their lifelong dream with the opening of their second location in Burlington, Illinois. This new restaurant is a testament to their dedication and passion, inspired by their roots in Arandas, Jalisco.
